Nice Saturday morning ride with the team.

Up relatively early this morning for a ride with the team.  We started with 4, but picked up one on the way to Lastra a Signa.  I think the meeting was pre-arranged and she lives in that area.  We had a very nice tour today.  We rode out the standard route to Lastra, then Montelupo, at times together, at times separated if people wanted to push, or stay with a fast group for a bit.  Back together in Montelupo, we went around the town and rode up the valley to Cerbia, mostly together, but at times separating when a hill asserted itself.  On the climb to Chiesa Nuova, we broke apart, and I rode with one guy, whose name is escaping my middle aged brain right now to the top.  We actually sprinted together to the top and neither one of us could drop the other.  Fun.  We regrouped, and one person went back, but 4 of us decided to enlarge the planned tour.  We rode over to San Casciano, then toward Mercatale, then took the Luaino road down to the valley of the Greve.

We rode up the valley a little way to Ferrone, and took the turn to Strada.  Another person had turned to go home after the Luiano descent, so we were 3 now.  The climb to Strada is very nice, not steep at all, and two of us again stayed neck and neck all the way up.  We regrouped, then returned back to Firenze via Grassina, Ponte a Ema, then across the first bridge and home.  Really fun tour today.  52 miles in 3:12 rolling time for an average speed of 16.3 mph with 1562 vertical feet climbed at a sun effected average temperature of 57.  Great morning ride!
