Lots of catching up this morning / early afternoon left me with only a couple of hours for a ride. What a beautiful day after 3 challenging days of weather with clients. Actually, I wish they would have had the better weather, as they only had the 3 days of riding, but I cannot control the weather. With a great finish to today's stage of the Vuelta to view, I decided to stay close to home and have a climbing kind of ride to the north. I enjoyed many of my favorites close in, climbing to San Domenico the back way, climbing Vincigliata, then tackling the hard climb to Montefanna. Strava has the grades at 20 to 25% for 3/4 of a kilometer, and it kind of feels like that. After a descent from the top of Montefanna, the last, gentle part of the Monteloro climb awaits, then back to the main road, up to Olmo, then a great descent back to the apartment. Great day, great riding. Here is the garmin link for all the ride information:
San Domenico, Maiano, Vincigliata, Montefanna, Olmo, Caldine, Firenze by ridingwithcosimo at Garmin Connect - Details
The picture doesn't look it to me, but it really is in excess of
20% grade here where the Montefanna climb gets serious.
On the steep part of the climb, this is the view to the west,
showing a good perspective of Monte Morello.
The view toward the east from very close to the top of the
climb to Montefanna.
